BRITE (Beattie Resources for Inclusiveness in Technology and Education) is a national resource for Scottish Further Education. We provide information and a range of staff development opportunities, which look at different aspects of inclusive practice. Access to assistive technology is available in our training centre and via an equipment loan bank. Seminars listed in the news section of our website are free and open to anyone working in Scottish Further Education. Occasionally we do provide training to organisations outside the further education sector, in this case a fee applies. |

The Fife Assessment Centre for Communication through Technology (FACCT) provides a Fife-wide service to children and adults whose communication ability is limited due a severe oral communication difficulty. This may have resulted from conditions present from birth, such as cerebral palsy or learning difficulties or develop later in life, from conditions such as head injury or stroke.
The aim of the service is to match individuals with alternative communication devices and systems, to enable them to speak for themselves.
The Centre is staffed by an inter-disciplinary team who work in conjunction with parents, carers and any professionals involved in supporting an individual with communication difficulties. Assessment of an individual's communication abilities and follow-up support may be carried out at various locations including home, school, day centre and hospital.
The team also provides advice and training in the wide range of alternative communication devices and systems available and resources to view and borrow. |
