Using the Images
When used within the Widgit programs, the graphics are accompanied by a wordlist that links each graphic to the possible words that the sign represents. In these programs you can then simply type the text to display the signs you require instead of having to search the graphic files for the image you want.
Widgit produce graphic symbols for a very large number of concepts including general, social and educational vocabulary. These symbols and other picture graphics come with Communicate in Print and the other software packs and can be used in association with the signs to enhance access to learning for many young people who have difficulties with reading or writing text.
The packs have many features for making creative and colourful materials such as flashcards, worksheets, puzzles, stories etc and contain examples and templates that can also be quickly and easily adapted to include the sign graphics.
Widgit have developed a large number of symbols to support the science curriculum. These can be used in conjunction with the signs to support pupils in both face-to-face conversation and in their written work.
