SymbolsUpdate to wordlists for the Widgit Rebus Symbols
These wordlists apply to version 2.6 of Writing with Symbols plus Inter_Comm and Complete versions that use the Widgit Rebus.
These wordlists have many more synonyms and improved F12 allocations. This removes the need to use the facility 'Match to Shorter word' and will also reduce the number of standard vocabulary words which you have to create using F11.
This download will put a file on your machine called update_wordlists.EXE
It contains the following wordlists.
| All bw.wus | The Widgit Rebus plus some black and white PCS symbols |
| All Rebus & PCS.wus | The complete set of all Widgit and PCS symbols |
| Allcolour.wus | The coloured PCS plus some Widgit Rebus |
| PCS bw.wus | The black and white PCS |
| PCS colour.wus | The coloured PCS |
| Spelling.wus | An improved black and white list for use in the Word processor, with reduced numbers of F12 matches making it more useful with the spell checker. |
| widgit A.wus | The main Widgit Rebus wordlist - excluding the sex and science symbols |
| widgit A+SS.wus | The main Widgit list including the sex and science symbols. |
These have the same names as the original lists on your
purchased installation disc.
When you run this file it will give you the option to:
(a) overwrite your existing wordlists or
(b) have the wordlists installed into a new folder called Updated
- If you have modified your original lists leaving them with the same
names then choose this option.
Note: You do not need this upgrade if you have version 2.615 of Writing with Symbols 2000. The version number of your copy of Writing with Symbols is shown on the blue title bar when you are running the program.

If you have altered the wordlists you can benefit from the improvements
by merging the new lists with your own modified lists, using the Resource
Manager.
To do this:
- Open the Resource Manager
- On the left side click on Open button and select your own
modified list from the Wordlist folder
- Then, click on the Open button again, and now select the
wordlists you want to merge from the Update folder (inside Wordlist).
- You will be asked the question: Do you want to merge with the wordlist already loaded? Answer Yes to this.
If you are using the version of the Resource Manager that came with version 2.6 of WWS2000 then this will only take a one or two minutes.
When this is done, you will need to save the list. You
will be asked to give it a name.
You can give it a new name or choose to overwrite an existing list.
