Tenses are dealt with in two ways depending on the tense. Simple past tense is represented by the arrow qualifier above the verb. In English the future tense is made with the single word 'will', although a set of symbols for the future tense will have the forward tome arrow above the image.

The past perfect using the verbs 'to have' and 'to be' have been reconsidered. The use of the possessive 'have' image for a past tense (I have run) conveys an inappropriate image. Instead, there is an additional symbol of time (the clock) which carries the tense marker and the participle will not carry the tense marker.
